Oak Park Arms Resident Care Workers Win Strong Contract

Dorothy Johnson is a Resident Care Attendant at Oak Park Arms Resident Care. She said it best. “With so many people getting wage freezes, losing their benefits, or even their jobs, we won pay raises and kept our healthcare.”
Dorothy was the on the Bargaining Committee that won minimum raises of between $1.10 - $1.35 or 9.5% per hour (whichever is greater) over the next 3 years. The 2009 raises were retroactive to January 1st. They also received a bonus of 3% or 35 cents (whichever is greater) per hour for all hours worked in 2008. There will be a healthcare reopener in 2010, and a pension reopener in 2011.
In the midst of one of the worst economic crash in 75 years Dorothy added that she “and my coworkers are pleased that we are in a strong union.”
